I refuse to settle for anything short of pure joy, and celebrate the moments of joy I find in everyday things. The way my smile makes others feel. The look on my husband's face when I enter a room. Sitting by our creek, waiting to see river otters, turtles, ducks, hawks or herons. Writing all night for the possible satisfaction of creating one good line. Flying a kite, and feeling it catch the wind. Reading a book more and more slowly, savoring its ending. Talking to my family...or better yet, seeing them. Finding remnants of Florida's untamed past in its interior springs and rivers. Hiking around a corner, and seeing the sky open up or a new landscape revealed. Anticipating an orchid's bloom.
